This is a photo of a Nubian ibex, a wild goat at Mitzpe Ramon as seen a few
yards from my vehicle. They were previously thought to be quite wild; fleeing from the least scent of
a human. I got into my car after taking the photo, then turned to look for it, only to find it was
gone.
Most of the Dead Sea scrolls were written on tanned
skins of ibex, goats, and gazelles; fewer were written on papyrus. (Dead Sea Scrolls A New
Translation by Wise, Abegg, & Cook).

These ibex were part of a group of three near the Ein Avdat upper
parking lot. These were relatively tame as if they had been
amongst tourists before.
